One thing you can always count on in a Jill Shalvis novel, lots of love and caring: that's just for the animals!( Just kidding.) This trip to Sunshine, Idaho we meet the new intern who will be at Belle Haven Animal Center for the next year. Her name is Emily Stevens, she's from Los Angeles and was really hoping to do her internship in Beverly Hills. Didn't happen. Karma can be a bitch sometimes. Emily has a notebook dedicated to "The Plan" which is actually her life laid out on paper. Three hundred and sixty four days and she'll be on her way to Beverly Hills, the next step of The Plan.

Belle Haven is an extremely busy animal hospital run by Dell, Adam and Brady. If you have read earlier Animal Magnetism books in the series, you know them well. Wyatt Stone has been friends with the brothers since childhood and has joined the practice working as a vet. When Emily arrives he is helping a sheep give birth and Emily finds herself in the midst of it, to the point of being elbow deep in sheep in her new first day on the job suit. Suddenly in the muck and hay and sheep Emily realizes that Wyatt is her one and only one night stand that occurred at the one and only Vet Conference she ever attended in Reno. Of course, Wyatt recognizes her and for added fun he will be her mentor for her time in Sunshine. She quickly states her intentions, Reno never happened and their relationship will be strictly professional. Wyatt agrees with a big old smirky smile on his face.

I love all of Jill Shalvis's books, but her Animal Magnetism series has a special place in my heart. The stories about the variety of pets and wildlife is so entertaining. Lady the female Bull Mastiff who turned out to be a male after some strange behavior started occurring. Gertie the bloodhound who lives at the clinic and of course Peanut the parrot that shouts out occasional cuss words. Both Wyatt and Emily have family issues they have to face, but they just can't keep their hands off each other. This book was pure entertainment from start to finish. I highly recommend it and if you haven't read the previous books, your missing a lot of laughter, romance and fun.

The story of Emily and Wyatt has many twists mostly due to Emily's inability to put down roots in Sunshine. The road to their HEA is full of fun and some adventure. Of course their is adventure in a vet's office! Emily has Wyatt so confused at times because she runs so hot and then just as quickly goes tepid when she remembers her "plan". The characters are quite likable, despite their flaws and the story moves along quite quickly. I was actually surprised when I reached the end. It didn't seem like I had been reading that long, and I read it in one sitting. Then I had to read it a second time because I was not quite ready to let Sunshine, Wyatt and Emily go. This is one of the best of the Animal Magnatism series. Characters from previous books act as a supporting cast and it is nice to see how some of those relationships are progressing. Dell and Jade stand out, but don't overwhelm the story of Wyatt and Emily. I highly recommend this book. It does work as a stand alone, but you miss some of the inside details on the minor characters if you have not read the rest of the series. Great job Jill Shalvis! Another keeper.

I love this series for the combination of Jill Shalvis' amazing contemporary romance set in a animal oriented setting. It just makes for incredible reading. I don't usually listen to her books on audio, but my reading time has been taken lately with the books I have to review so I've gotten where I add the books I'm dying to read onto my audio pile. And her writing was just as good in audio...thanks to the incredible narration of Karen White. Wow...she's an awesome narrator. This book has a HUGE cast of characters and not once did any of them sound even similar. Her voice repertoire must be massive. Truly, she was excellent and I will search out more narrated books by her in the future.

But back to the story. Sweet, fun, so incredibly sexy...yep, this was definitely a Jill Shalvis novel. She just does not make a mis-step. I loved both Emily and Wyatt and their out-spoken, don't-mind-their-own-business siblings who simply don't want to see either of them hurt again. Because with the set-up with these two, someone...probably two someone's...going to get hurt. Emily is only in Sunshine for a year internship. She's an LA girl. Never planned to leave and she sure didn't want to go to Idaho. But that was her only choice. So when she arrives, she's already counting down her 365 day sentence.

But what she doesn't count on in Idaho is Wyatt, her one night stand...really freaking hot, knocked her socks off...one night stand who she thought she'd never see again. Oh, and yeah...now he's her supervisor since she has to shadow him in the vet clinic everyday. And Wyatt...he's oh-so-yummy and alpha and sexy and did I mention yummy? Yeah, Jill Shalvis knows how to write her heroes. So sexy!!

It's a great book, an easy, entertaining read, and there's even a bit of suspense and danger toward the end...LOVE that.

The book is by Jill Shalvis...so honestly...enough said. Read her. She writes consistently good contemporary romance, heroes that will melt your heart, and heroines that are so easily relatable that you can't help but feel empathy for them. Her books are phenomenal...and this one was, too.
